Pattern Recognition

Pattern Recognition is a passwordless biometric authentication that helps login to an application on Android, iPhone and Windows devices. Among the existing unlock systems, pattern unlock is one of the most creative and effective.

Pattern recognition includes recognizing patterns by using a machine learning algorithm. Pattern recognition can be defined as the classification of data based on knowledge already gained or on statistical information extracted from patterns and/or their representation. One of the important aspects of pattern recognition is its application potential.

In a typical pattern recognition application, the raw data is processed and converted into a form that is amenable for a machine to use. Pattern recognition involves the classification and clustering of patterns.

cidaas' user self-service portal supports the pattern recognition authentication method where the user sets a secret pattern in a specific color code to be used during login. This pattern is privy only to the user and stored on the device where it is set.

Pattern Recognition can be used for two-step verification when combined with other authentication methods like email, SMS or OTP to provide additional login security through the cidaas Authenticator app when integrated with the user portal or admin dashboard.

Prerequisites to Configure Pattern Authentication

1. The cidaas Authenticator app should be installed and set up for your account on your mobile.

2. Pattern should be enabled by the admin under Multifactor Settings in the admin dashboard.

3. To add Pattern to the authentication scope of an app, the admin should select it from the dropdown list for the Scope parameter under Apps > App Settings > Edit App in the Admin Dashboard.

4. Also in the Admin Dashboard, under Apps > App Settings > Edit App > Advance Settings > Authentication, Pattern should be added to the Authentication field.

Always ask for 2FA must be enabled to configure Pattern for two-step verification.

Once the above setting is done, users can now configure Pattern Recognition for their account using the cidaas Authenticator app.
