IVR (Interactive Voice Response) for Passwordless Authentication

An end-user can choose to be authenticated by an interactive voice response agent where a six-digit verification code is provided on the registered mobile phone via voice call.

IVR can be used for two-step verification when combined with other authentication methods like SMS or OTP to provide additional login security.

Prerequisites to Configure IVR Authentication

1. The cidaas Authenticator app should be installed and set up for your account on your mobile.

2. IVR should be enabled by the admin under Multifactor Settings in the admin dashboard.

3. To add IVR as one of the default authentication methods for an app, the admin should select it from the dropdown list for the Scope parameter under Apps > App Settings > Edit App in the Admin Dashboard.

4. Also in the Admin Dashboard, under Apps > App Settings > Edit App > Advance Settings > Authentication, IVR should be added to the Authentication field.

Always ask for 2FA must be enabled to configure IVR two-step verification in combination with email, SMS, TOTP, or other primary authentication mechanisms.

Configuring IVR Passwordless Authentication

IVR can be configured as a passwordless authentication method on the user self-service portal with the following steps:

1. Register using either email, mobile phone number, or user name by clicking the relevant tab, providing your email/mobile number/user name, and tapping the arrow button.

2. Provide the password and click the Register button to complete registration.

Configure IVR via cidaas Authenticator app

To authenticate via IVR, you have to use the cidaas Authenticator app to scan the QR code available for IVR on the user self-service portal. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Set up and link the user account to the cidaas Authenticator.

2. In the Login & Security page, click the Configure button for IVR.

3. Set up the IVR configuration by providing the mobile number, and clicking the Send Verification Code button.

4. You will receive a call on your phone from an auto-agent that provides the verification code. Type in the code you hear, and click Verify.

5. The following success confirmation window is displayed to indicate that IVR has been enrolled successfully.

6. When you log out and login again, you will see that the IVR Recognition icon has been added to the login page under How do you want to authenticate?

Login using IVR Recognition

After configuring IVR Recognition for passwordless authentication on your user self-service portal, to login, follow these steps:

1. On the login page, click the IVR icon under How do you want to authenticate?, provide the IVR code, and hit the arrow button.

2. You are logged in successfully if the correct IVR code is entered.

IVR can be configured through physical verification setup on the cidaas admin dashboard. To set this option, follow these steps:

1. Click the profile icon > My Account, on the admin dashboard.

2. Click Physical Verification Setup, then, click the edit icon of the IVR Recognition tab under Setup physical verification.

3. Follow the steps in the IVR Verification Setup window.

4. IVR Recognition is added under Configured Authentication Types.
